Passivation after seamless pipe
2022-12-20
The phenomenon that the chemical stability of carbon steel seamless pipe or alloy seamless pipe is significantly enhanced due to some factors is called passivation. Metal passivation caused by some passivators (chemicals) is called chemical passivation. Oxidants such as concentrated HNO3, concentrated H2SO4, hclo3, K2Cr2O7 and KMnO4 can pickle and passivate carbon steel seamless pipes or alloy seamless pipes. After pickling and passivation of seamless pipe or alloy seamless pipe, its electrode potential moves to the positive direction, which makes it lose its original characteristics. For example, the passivated iron cannot replace copper in copper salt. In addition, the metal can also be passivated by electrochemical methods. For example, Fe can be passivated by placing Fe in H2SO4 solution as anode, polarizing the anode with external current, and raising the iron potential by a certain instrument to a certain extent. Metal passivation caused by anodic polarization is called anodic passivation or electrochemical passivation.
